The Crushers opened up tournament play with a 4-2 Victory over the SYA Xplosion.  Rachel
Watts pitched 5 solid innings to pick up the victory.  With the Crushers down 2-0 in the
second inning, Cortney Bingham tripled down the LF line plating Danielle Blot for the Crushers
first score.  Morgan Cooke followed with an RBI infield hit to even the score at 2.

Going into the 3rd inning with score still tied at 2, Kristina Braxton, Leighann Jacobs and
Shaelynn Braxton connected for 3 consecutive singles and 1 RBI.  Two batters later Lindsey
Slover  drove an RBI single into right field giving the Crushers a 4-2 lead.  Rachel Watts
closed the door to secure the victory. Jacey Mann made the play of the day with a running
one-handed catch.

Next up The Rage, The Crushers tallied 3 runs in the 1st inning.  Kristina Braxton and Danielle
Blot led off the game with back to back singles followed by Shaelynn Braxton’s 2 RBI double.
Kristina Braxton was masterful on the mound striking out 6 in 3 innings and only yielding 1 hit.    
The Crushers went on to win 9-0, Cortney Bingham and Kortney Hetherington each had 2  RBI’s
in the win.

The final game on Saturday proved to be the most exciting.  Rachel Watts and Micki Crouch
locked up in a Pitchers duel.  Micki had collected 6 strikeouts in the first 2 innings.  The
Crushers and Mount Vernon Magic entered the 3rd inning with no score, until Kristina Braxton
Singled and Leighann Jacobs followed with a 2-run in the park Home Run.    The Crushers
followed up their 3rd-inning effort by scoring 5 times in the 4th to secure the 7-0 victory.  Lisa
Dominguez contributed with a Monster triple that would have left any 200 foot ball park.

The Crushers returned to the field on Sunday as the #1 seed.  They quickly eliminated the
Rage 13-1.  Kristina Braxton went the distance striking out 5 and allowing only 1 hit in the
victory.  Tori Schaerer, Maddie Metzger, Kortney Hetherington all doubled and Kristina
Braxton and Danielle Blot Homered to lead the offensive attack.  

The Championship Game was a match up of Saturday’s game 1 opponents “Crushers vs
Xplosion”.  The Crushers jumped out to a 3-0 lead Kristina Braxton led off the game with a
triple, followed by Leighann Jacobs’ Single and Shaelynn Braxton’s double.  The Crushers
went on to score 3 more times to secure the 6-0 Victory and Championship.  Rachel Watts
pitched the complete game shutout, scattering 4 hits, striking out 4 and walking none.

With 5 new players and only 4 practice times prior to the September 13th tournament,
division.

The Crushers jumped out quickly and beat the Stafford Surge 6-2.  Alexa Luiggi pitched 4
strong innings securing the first of three wins on the weekend.  Luiggi added a single and 2
rbi's at the plate.  Sam Braxton also added a big hit and scored twice.  Hannah Garner
walked twice and scored once ahead of Lauren Eckley who also added a single and scored.

Game two featured Alexa Luiggi and Mia Lacy on the mound.  The two pitchers combined to
shut down the Faquier Fusion 8-3.  The Crushers exploded offensively with 8 hits.  Contributing
offensively were Mia Lacy, Hannah Garner, Alexa Luiggi, Amanda Cahow, Peyton DelGallo,
Madison Blot and Sierra Whitlock.

With a 13-3 win over Fire and Ice in Game 3, the win was a total team effort.  The Crushers
scored early and often banging out 15 hits led by Sam Braxton (3/3), Katie Anderson (2/2,
BB).  Hannah Garner, Amanda Cahow and Alexa Luiggi added 2 hits each while Lauren Eckley
and Lexi Dorcsis added timely singles.  Alexa Luiggi pitched 3 more strong innings and gave
way to Lauren Eckley to close the game out.  Eckley struck out 2 of 3 batters in her first
appearance on the mound.  Madison Blot stood out defensively shooting down 2 base
runners to put down any come-back attempts by Fire and Ice.

The championship proved to be a defensive battle and pitchers duel.  Mia Lacy stood tall on
the mound, striking out 6 batters in 5 innings, allowing zero earned runs, no walks, and only 2
hits.  Lacy also delivered the game winning hit, 1 of only 3 allowed by the Ashburn Shooting
Stars Gold pitcher.  In the 4th inning, Blot smashed a 3-2 fastball up the middle to plate
Megan Nassar, tying the game at 1-1.  The Crushers trailed in the fifth inning and were down
to their last out when Mia Lacy ripped a triple down the first base line scoring Lauren Eckley
who had previously walked.  Lacy then scored on a passed ball to secure the 3-2 victory and
the first place trophy.
The 2009 10U Virginia Crushers battled to a 4-1 record, finishing third in their first tournament
appearance.  The Crushers, having previously only played two games together, combined
hard work with a lot of hustle to overcome inexperience in a great weekend at the 2008
Prince William Fall Challenge.
The Crushers pitching staff of Leah Shipp, Stephanie Fosness, and Emily Weatherholtz
dominated Saturday play, going 3-0 while allowing only 3 walks against 26 strike outs.  Leah
allowed only 1 hit in her 2 wins.  Stephanie picked up the win against the Fauquier Freeze
allowing no walks and recording 6 “K’s”.  Leah Shipp led the hitting, going 4-5 with 5 RBIs for
the day.  Speedster Erin Jones chalked up 3 stolen bases scoring 5 runs while Baily Mastin
crossed the plate 4 times for the Crushers.
The day was marked by the final game.  Down 6-4 with 2 minutes remaining on the clock, Leah
Shipp struck out the final 2 Gainseville Lady Cannons hitters, allowing the Crushers 1 more at
bat.  The team exploded for 6 runs to pull out a great 10-7 come from behind victory and
claim the top berth in their bracket.
On Sunday morning the Crushers faced their cross county rivals, the Manassas Blaze.  The
Crusher bats awoke with 7 hits producing 8 runs in the 8-2 victory.  Morgan Blot and Emily
Weatherhotlz each drove in 2 runs.  The back to back at bats staked the Crushers to a 7-2
lead.  Leah Shipp kept the Blaze baserunners off the bases with a 9 strike-out performance
against only 2 walks.
In the semi final game against the ’97 NVGSA Firebirds the Crushers played a well balanced
game but came up short against a very experienced team in an 8-0 loss
